  • Electric bicycle classes, age, and helmets: Utah defines three e-bike classes up to 750 watts and requires a speedometer for Class 3. Class 3 operators must be at least 16. Since May 6, 2026, riders and passengers under 21 must wear helmets on highways. Other new younger-rider restrictions in HB 381 do not take effect until May 5, 2027; existing age limits therefore remain current on the review date. Local authorities may restrict path/trail use.
